10. 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe

The 1965 Daytona Cobra was a championship-winning coup, which had already made racing history and setting 23 land speed records in 1965. Only 6 were made, which points out the amazingly high auction price. This beautiful and expensive car was sold on August 15, 2009 at Mecum Actions in Monterey, California sold for $7,685,000.

9. 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante Coupe

This Bugatti is also the highest price ever reached for a car at an auction. Although from the mid 30, this classic car produced two hundred horsepower built by 4-wheel cable-operated mechanical drum brakes. It was auctioned by Gooding & Co., in Pebble Beach, California August 13, 2008 and was ultimately sold for $7,920,000.

8. 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster (in London)

One of the largest vehicles of the time, the Mercedes Benz 540K series was well known for being one of the official automobiles used to transport the Nazi regime. The “540K Special” was a high-end model of the vehicle, created in limited numbers (just thirty two were ever made). It set a new record for a Mercedes Benz by pricing $8.252,000 (October 2007 at London).

7. 1962 Ferrari 330 TRI/LM Testa Rossa

The other most expensive cars sold at auction is Ferrari Testa Rossa. This beautiful Ferrari was one of the most popular series of sports-racing cars ever made. It was sold at RM Auctions in Maranello, Italy on May 20, 2007 for $9,281,250.This vehicle was designed on a special chassis, along with beefed-up parts for the more power, and it highlighted an all-independent suspension. It was driven in the 1962 24hrs Le Mans by Phil Hil and Oliver Glendebien.

 6. 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster (in California)

The costly Mercedes was auctioned from the private collection of F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone under RM Auctions. The transaction took place at Monterey in California, United States (usa) on August, 2011 for a hefty price of $9,680,000.

5. 1931 Bugatti Royale Type 41 Kellner Coupe

This awesome costly black Bugatti from Briggs Cunningham’s was sold to a Swedish property tycoon Hans Thulin at Christie’s auction in London, England . The auction was placed at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19, 1987 and sold for $9,800,000.Becoming one of just six ever produced, and including a 12.7 li engine (designed for an aircraft). In today’s market it could well be worth increase that number.

4. 1931 Duesenberg Model J Murphy-Bodied Coupe

One of the six vehicles that millionaire Captain George Whittell Jr collected during his lifetime, this rare 1931 car was famous for its classic lengthy body and its stylish model. This car sold for $10,340,000 on August 2011 at Monterey, California.
